One of the matters which we Muslims overlook or not implement it as much in our lives is to get in the habit of sending blessings (salat or salam) on our prophet Muhammad (SallaAllahWasallam). This matter is of so much importance that in Quran Allah declares doing so Himself along with the angels and then instructs the Muslims to do the same.

In Quran, Allah says:

“Allah sends His Salaah (Graces, Blessings, Mercy) on the Prophet (Muhammad), and also His angels (Angels ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! send your Salah on (ask Allaah to bless) him (Muhammad), and greet him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation, i.e. As?Salaamu ‘Alaykum)” [Quran: al-Ahzaab 33:56]
Sending blessings (Salat and Salam) on the prophet is so vital that in one of the hadeeth, acceptance of our Dua is made dependant on it. According to a hadith by ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
Dua is suspended between heaven and earth and none of it is taken up until you send blessings upon your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” (Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi).
Another hadith takes this topic further in that it advises believers to include as much blessings on the Prophet (SAW) part of our dua. It was narrated (in part of the hadith) that Ubayy ibn Ka’b said:
I said: O Messenger of Allah, I send blessings upon you a great deal; how much of my prayer (dua) should be for you? He said: “Whatever you wish.”
I said: One quarter? He said: “Whatever you wish, and if you do more it is better for you.”
I said: Half? He said: “Whatever you wish, and if you do more it is better for you.”
I said: Two thirds? He said: “Whatever you wish, and if you do more it is better for you.”
I said: Should I make all my du’aa’ for you? He said: “Then your concerns will be taken care of and your sins will be forgiven.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2457); classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

About the above hadith, Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Jala’ al-Afhaam (79): Our Shaykh Abu ‘Abbaas (i.e., Ibn Taymiyah) was asked about the meaning of this hadeeth. He said: Ubayy ibn Ka’b had a dua that he used to say for himself, and he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) whether he should make one-quarter of it sending blessings on him, and he said … because whoever sends blessings on the Prophet, Allah will send blessings on him tenfold, and if Allah sends blessings on a person He will take care of his concerns and forgive him his sins.
In another hadith by Al-Tirmidhi (484) narrated from ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ood that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who send the most blessings on me.” [Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb.]
In summary, we should send our salutations to the prophet (SAW) whenever possible or whenever we hear his name mentioned. Let’s remember that Allah Himself does that along with the angels too.

Excellent. We should share our islam with all openly.Keep it up
Nothing is better then randomly sending blessings, throughout the day, on the Holy Prophet saws. It should not be restricted only to the period during dua.
Congrats to IqraSense for sending the message. May you all be blessed.
May all graces be upon him (SAW), He is the messenger of Islam. Let ALLAH bless him
his paak rooh rest in peace.

Knowledge is a awakening —Truth!
Good ,
Thanks for the knowledge of islam
salam and jazak Allah.
i have looked at a number of interpretations of 33:56, none of them mentioned ‘ending the salah’ on the prophet or linking the ‘sending the blessings on the prophet’ to salath prayer in any way.
can you pls explain which interpretation links this to the salath prayer?
also in my view sending the blessings on the prophet is a mark of respect and affection to the prophet, to say that acceptance of our duas depend on it is in contradiction with ‘thouhidh’ and the direct relationship the servants have with God.
002.186
YUSUFALI: When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way.
-peace.
mashallah,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thank you very much may allah bless you
The prophet is undoubtedly the channel for delivering the messages of the formless Divine, Allah. It is but, natural that all our praises for the prophet will come back as blessings to us, because who else can so perfectly reach our prayers to the Supreme ?, Who else has gone beyond the human bondage of Self ? The more the dua, that much and more is returned because the joy of remembrance knows no measure, nor is the person who is doing the dua should be measuring the blessings. This is a world of pure joy where only Allah’s presence is felt.
Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammad Wa Ala Ali Muhammad.

Salaamun Alaikum,
Absolutely no doubt!!! We need to send salaam and Salawaat to the Holy Prophet Mohammed (sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) as Allah (swt) mentioned in the quran and command to do.
“THERE IS NO DOUBT DUAS WON’T BE ACCEPTED IF SOMEONE DELIBERATELY MISSING OUT THE NAME OF PROPHET MOHAMMED (SAW) IN HIS/HER DUAS”.
Iqra Sense doing a great job, Mashaallah!!! Keep it up!!
Wassalaam
Dear IqraSense,
thanks for your educative programme on this internet, may ALLAH reward you accodingly.
My comment is that let the whole world know the type of blessing recomended by the prophet
himself b/c we could see some group of people gathered together invoking blessing that is not
in comformity with the recomended blessing in the hadth.
May i say Jazakallahu Khaeran
what an excelent source of confort for us the believers, this should empower us muslims to be more frequent and insistant in our duas to our Rabb Al-A’lameen, especially the most important ingredient of it is to send blessings upon our beloved Prophet (S.A.A.W.S.W.S). I say this are the most beautiful sayings that can soften the believers heart and get it closer to Allah and His Messenger (S.A.A..W.S). Also is recorded in Sahih Al-Tirmidhi that the Prophet(S.A.A.W.S) said: “The miser is the one in whose presence i am mentioned yet does not pray for Allah’s blessings upon me.” At-Tirmidhi 5/551 and others. See also Al-Albaani, Sahih At-Tirmidhi 3/177 and Sahihul-Jaami, As-Saghir 3/25. Brothers and sisters, lets never forget that our Prohet is still is the noblest man on the face of this earth, no other is comparable to him, for his is the most perfect of creation and the greatest of examples for all of us so “ya ayyuha ladheena amanu, “Salli Alayhimu Tasleema.”
May Allah bless all of us to constantly send blessings on the Holy Prophet (Sallal laahu Alaihi Wassalam)
Ameen!
mashaallah
may allah reward you, and may he send peace and blessings on our beloved prophet mohammad (saw) as much as he rightly deserves
may allah make a habit of every muslim to recite durood ameen
fantastic
Masha Allah! My aqeeda is that by reciding durood o salaam, we will gain salvation in the hereafter, Insha Allah but ofcourse, we have to be conscientious of our deeds aswell.

Sending Durud on the Prophet (SAWS)
I have read the comments above and have found it interesting. I have tried to edit it and reproduce them. May Allah SWT reward the reminders of the faithful to send prayers of peace and blessings upon our dear Prophet Muhammed (salla allahu alihe wa salaam). How great the reminder to call others to do good. May Allah SWT bless the believers who encourage good and those who practice it? Ameen. Allah Paak constantly Send Daroud Shareef on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), we, the Servants should do the like. Besides as you have rightly pointed out, it is recommended to read Daroud Shareef in our Du’a. Jazak Allah
Salaam Iqra Sense brothers and sisters,
First of all, JazakAllah Khairan for doing such an amazing job of compiling hadiths and sharing this valuable information with us. May Allah reward you immensely.
I just want to say though, I had been searching for the Hadith of Ubayy bin Ka’b in Tirmidhi…about how much of my Dua should be for invoking blessings upon the Prophet (s.a.w.), and I found out it is not a Sahih Hadith. It is classed da’eef. Pls check the link for the original hadith below:
https://sunnah.com/urn/677630
I aslo checked in IslamQ/A and they are also saying it is classed as da’eef or weak.
Pls check the last few paragraphs:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/128455
But All?hu A’alam (Allah knows best). May Allah guide us to know the correct info.
