In response to the post “Root Cause behind Muslim mapping in Southern California, USA“, Prof. M.A. Mohsin (IqraSense Reader) responds as follows –
In this context, here is an excerpt from Harun Yahiya’s book called , “Islam Denounces Terrorism”. The book can be accessed on the website: www.harunyahiya.com
“…..Islam and terror cannot stand side by side and that no divine religion permits violence.”
“…..The source of terror that we condemn is definitely not from a divine religion and there is no room for terrorism in Islam.”
“…As is known, for centuries, various acts of terrorism have been carried out in different parts of the World. These terrorist attacks were carried out by different groups for a variety of purposes. Some times a Communist organization, some times a fascist group and some times radical and separatist faction have assumed responsibilities of these acts. Countries like America often become the target of terrorist or racial groups. The European countries have been the center stage of violent acts by terrorist groups; 17 Nov. in Greece, Red Army faction and Neo Nazis in Germany, ETA in Spain, Red Brigades in Italy and many other organizations seek to make their voices heard through terror and violence. Terrorist groups kill innocent and defenseless people. The nature of terrorism changes with changing World conditions and increases its impact and power with new means made possible by developing technology. In particular the mass communication tools, such as the internet, extend the scope and influence of the terrorist activities considerably. ….Besides the Western organizations, there are also other terror organizations of Middle East origin. Terrorist attacks are carried out by these groups in all corners of the World. Sadly, the fact that the perpetrators of various terrorist attacks carry Christian, Muslims or Jewish identities cause some people to put forward claims which do not concur with divine religions. The truth is that even if the terrorists have Muslim identities, the terror they perpetrate cannot be labeled Islamic terror, just as it cannot be called Jewish terror if the perpetrators were Jews or Christian terror if they were Christians. That is because murdering innocent people in the name of the divine religion is unacceptable. We need to keep in mind that among those who were killed in New York in Washington, there were people who loved the Prophet Jesus, Christians, the Prophet Moses, Jews, and the Prophet Mohammad, Muslims, and others. (See Book on Stories of the Prophets).
No one who is religious and fears God will do such a thing. The aggressors can commit such violence only with the intention of attacking the religion itself. It may well be that those who carried out this violence did so to present religion as evil in the eyes of the people, to divert people from their religion, and to generate hatred towards people who are religiously inclined.”
See Allah’s name is peace and Islam prohibits oppression

I’m interested in the way you separate the religion of the perpetrator from the act perpetrated.
I’ve been reading about attempts to rebrand jihadists as takfiri – you can read it here http://blackwatertown.wordpress.com/2009/09/21/language-wars/
As a non-Muslim myself, but as someone who follows various Islamic mailouts, I wonder what Muslims in different parts of the world think about this. Is it credible, do you think?
The author (David Kilcullen, an Australian counter insurgency expert) may indeed have his own agenda.
But, even taking that into account, I wonder what people make of his argument.
Thanks.
