Uthman bin Affan (R) was an early convert to Islam in Makkah. He put all his wealth under the service of Islam from the first moment he became a Muslim. He spent most of his wealth to buy slaves and free them for the sake of Allah. After he became the third Caliph, he oversaw the compilation of the Quran into one standardized version, which is the version that is still used today.
