Five qualities of a true believer of Islam

Qualities of a Muslim

The Quran mentions many qualities of a Muslim throughout the various chapters (surahs) of the Quran. In one such instance, the following verses of Surah Al-Anfal highlight five noteworthy qualities.

qualities of a Muslim beleivers

2. The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone);
3. Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them.
4. It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise).

It’s clear from these verses that the qualities of a true Muslim mentioned in these verses are the following:

  1. When Allah is mentioned, they feel the fear of Him in their hearts;
  2. Their faith increases every time they hear and ponder over Quran’s verses;
  3. They put their trust in Allah, i.e. have Tawakkul on Allah;
  4. They (Muslim Believers) perform prayers regularly;
  5. They spend in charity in the path of Allah.

Story of Prophet Yaqub / Jacob (alaihis salam) – Story narrated in Surah Yousuf

As a Muslim, one can take heed from these verses and assess the state of his or her heart. In his tafsir, Ibn Kathir notes one of the attributes of the hypocrites is that none of Allah’s remembrance enters their hearts upon performing what He has ordained. They neither believe in any of Allah’s Ayat nor trust (in Allah) nor pray if they are alone nor pay the Zakah due on their wealth.

The primary point is that the one of the signs of a true believer is that when Allah is mentioned, he of she feels His awe and fears Him in his or her heart, and thus implements His orders and abstains from His prohibitions. About such people, Sufyan Ath-Thawri narrated that As-Suddi commented, “A man might be thinking of committing injustice or a sin. But he abstains when he is told, `Have Taqwa of Allah’, and his heart becomes fearful.”

Finally, for such people Allah has promised ‘grades of dignity’, i.e. special places in paradise. We know from various ahadith that paradise has many levels and the more deserving are granted better and higher grades in paradise. In a Hadith recorded by Imam Ahmad and the collectors of Sunan, Abu Atiyyah said that Ibn Abu Said said that the Messenger of Allah said,

levels of paradise for believers

Residents of Paradise see the residents of the highest grades just as you see the distant planet in the horizon of the sky. Verily, Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq and `Umar are among them (in the highest grades), and how excellent they are.”

    I am a proud Muslim with 2 children living my life from a wheelchair. I can stand but can’t walk. There were many Muslims that lived around me. All have since moved. Now the people trying to hurt us. I don’t have the money to move.

    I am guiding by my belief in God. I believe there some good in all people. I think every life has value. I feel the is good in you. I need help..

    I work hard to help myself and the children lead healthy, productive lives. I am focuses from my wheelchair to improve my life health and give us the chance to lift our hearts out of poverty. I want us to have a house we can be proud to live in. Wheelchair accessible so I can still care for the children.

    I am not seeking people to buy me a house. I am asking for donations toward the building of my forever home. Help me to access the opportunities I need to succeed in this life. I am asking everyone I can, trying to touch the heart of someone willing to help.
    I really need to move

    I am a disabled woman living my life from a wheelchair. I am trying to buy me a house. Not any old house. It has to be totally wheelchair accessible. 3 bedrooms and a home office. I have 2 little ones with me. They have never had a bedroom. Have you ever wanted to build you own house? Everything just the way you wanted it. Door ways, hall way and Windows all at the right level. We are in a bad situation right now and need to move soon. The neighbors killed my dog in my backyard. Its horrible, I don’t sleep at night. I just watch over the children. Because I’m not sure of what they are going to do to us next. I really need to move.
