Benazir Bhutto Assassination12.27.07

benazir-bhutto-assassination

Today, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in her come country, Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto was indeed a very controversial personality in Pakistan. People loved her because of her espousing and promoting western lifestyles more than Islamic lifestyles and people hated her because of the same. Moreover, many people despised her because of her family’s alleged involvement in corrupt practices and dictatorial attitudes.

Her assassination should sadden citizens of Pakistan and the Muslim world in general not because the majority loved her as an individual but mostly because of the immaturity of rule of law in Pakistan and some other countries. Instead of letting a rational constitutional process decide future leaders, the current environment relies on violence and vigilante rule of law. For Pakistan or any other country that sees such instability, it must have voices of reason, wisdom and education overcome actions fueled by emotions, anger, and illiteracy.
